Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.

The Spirit of Syracuse Chorus is committed to the music education of women of all ages, creating musical excellence in a warm, caring and supportive environment which encourages the personal growth and development of each member.

Sixty-five years ago, a few brave women got together and started harmonizing much in the same way they’d seen some community men doing, and were instantly thrilled with the sounds they could produce with just their voices.  This kind of harmony spread throughout the United States over the next several years and Sweet Adelines International was born.

It was established here in Syracuse in the ‘60s and there has been at least one chapter in Central New York since then.  We're from all walks of life –

business women, homemakers, wives,
daughters, granddaughters, sisters -
you name it, we’re here and singing together.

The Spirit of Syracuse Chorus delights in performing for other organizations and for the community at large. This championship chorus has been entertaining audiences throughout CNY and around the continent for over 30 years. Under the direction of Master Director, Kay Crawford, we are moving forward into vocal music-making at its best.

We’ve grown throughout the years in what we have to offer women, and in this decade we are professional and polished.  We sing extremely well, we dance, we travel together, we play together, we compete together both regionally and internationally, and we share.  We share of our craft, and we share of ourselves.  We offer each other an unconditional love and support you rarely find among women and at the same time we have a blast singing with each other.
