Spirit of Syracuse Joins the New Greater NY/NJ Region 15
Implemented by Sweet Adelines, International, "Harmonic Progression" has moved 8 choruses, including the SOS, from Region 16 into the new Greater NY/NJ Region 15 beginning May 1, 2013. Made up of 23 choruses from Central NY, the New York City area, Long Island, and New Jersey, the new Greater NY/NJ Region 15 will be a new chapter in SOS history. SOS Becomes 2013 Silver Medalists In Their Final Contest In Region 16
This April, at the 2013 Sweet Adelines, International Region 16 Contest, the Spirit of Syracuse finished as 2nd Place Regional Champions in their final appearance in the Region 16 Contest! A bittersweet weekend for Master Director Kay Crawford and all of the singers of the Spirit of Syracuse, as well as 7 other choruses headed to the new Region 15, the chorus sang it's way out with one of it's best performances to date! As the Silver Medalists, the SOS also qualifies to be considered for a Wild Card slot in the 2014 International Contest in Baltimore, MD. SOS Quartets Compete In Final Region 16 Contest
In addition to the annual chorus contest held this April, four quartets from the Spirit of Syracuse Chorus also competed in the Region 16 Quartet Contest. Skylark Quartet and Blue Skies Quartet both finished in the Top 10, scoring over 500 points, in 8th and 9th place respectively, while Pitch Session left the audience rolling in the aisles in one of the contest's most memorable performances and Sweet Vibrations impressed everyone in attendance with their heart and determination in the face of great adversity!
